Had his crush Aba dropped the

class? Was he ever going to see her again? Those where the thoughts running in Bernard’s mind as the lecturer lectured.

The whole class was quiet. She was the center of attraction and everyone both males and females couldn’t take their eyes of this piece of gorgeous walking creature.

It was at this point that Bernard saw her. He was very excited and thanked God silently in his heart. All the seats were full except for one beside him.

Meanwhile, Aba was feeling very uncomfortable as she could feel the pressure from people gazing at her. She scanned around the room and located a seat just beside a guy. She hurriedly made her way there and sat down as fast as she could. Bernard was very happy, was it a mere coincidence or there was something more to it?

“It is like everything is working together for my good. Let me flow and enjoy the moment,” he said. He occasionally took a glance of Aba and quickly turned away when she was about looking his direction. He was completely lost in the class. The only thing he thought about was e'er this beautifully sculptured creature sitting beside him. The one he had had sleepless night about.

Meanwhile, Aba wasn’t understanding anything the lecturer was teaching. She tried her best to understand but she couldn’t. The more she concentrated on the lecture, the more she got confused. She had no option than to ask for help from someone. She decided to ask the gentleman hat was sitting close to her.

“Hello Mister, do you understand what the lecturer is teaching,” she asked Bernard. “Err… Err… Err...” he muttered. “Excuse me, please what are you saying?” Aba inquired. “Oh nothing. Don’t worry lady, I understand everything perfectly well,” he answered. “Really? That is wonderful. I will come to you so you can teach me. I am lost and I can’t make meaning of anything the lecturer is saying.” She said. “No problem lady, you will understand everything perfectly well when I explain them to you,” Bernard said. “I hope I am not bothering you?” Aba asked. “Oh no, am honored to be helping a lady like you,” he responded. “Stop flattering me,” Aba shyly retorted. “Oh am not flattering you, am just being real,” said Bernard.

“Anyway my name is Aba,” she said. “What about you?” she inquired. “My name is Bernard,” he responded. “So when do you suggest we meet?” Aba asked with expectations.“We can even meet today,” Bernard answered hastily. “Okay then, but I hope I can take your number?” Aba asked. “Oh sure, my number is 0502034578. You can call at any time,” Bernard said giving her cell number to Aba.

Bernard went to his hall thinking about all that had happened in the lecture hall. Was he dreaming? He thought. Was it fate of two destinies coming together? It seemed everything is going on well as he had wished.

As he thought about the incident, a frightening thought passed through his head like an electricity wave. The thought made him shiver and sweat profusely. He now remembered that he understood nothing that was thought in the class either. He answered Aba on impulse and didn’t understand the consequences of his actions.

“This calls for desperate action!!” He

thought. “I should make photocopies of the handout now and go to Reuben for him to explain things to me. I need to understand this lecture notes by hook or crook.” He said.

Now Aba was very excited in her room. She had finally gotten the help she needed badly. The gentleman she met looked smart and intelligent, she thought. She decided to call him so they can book a study appointment that evening. She was really in desperate need to understand the lecture notes. She picked her phone and dialed Bernard’s number.

Meanwhile, Bernard was still at the stationary shop trying to make a copy of Reuben’s note when he heard his phone ringing. He took the phone from his pocket with his long soft fingers and realized it was a strange number. “This must be Aba,” he thought. With trembling hands, he picked the call.

Aba: Hello Bernard

Bernard: Hello Aba

Aba: Please will you be available at 7:30pm. I want to pass by your place so we could study together.

Bernard: Oh okay, I will wait for you then.

Aba: Then see you later

Bernard: Alright

Aba: Bye

Bernard: Bye

After Aba hanged up, Bernard went immediately to Reuben’s room so he could explain the notes to him. He couldn’t afford to mess up on a first day. He really need to be on top of things. Reuben explained everything to him and Bernard tried his best to understand. He was now confident to meet up with Aba in the evening.

Bernard was so eager for the time to approach 7:30pmr. He was lying restless on his bed. He tried to take a nap but couldn’t. He was expecting and waiting for Aba to show up at his door.

Was Aba really going to come as promised? Bernard was really hoping that his anticipation wouldn’t be in vain.
