In Search of Treasures by Lewis Dampson Season 2- Episode (6)

Daniel didn’t know what to do. A wrong move could jeopardize all he had worked for. He could lose both his source of income and his love.

Now, he had three ladies in his house. For them to meet each other would be a disaster. How was he going to solve this puzzle? These were the thought running through Daniel’s mind as he stood behind the door.

Daniel opened the door slightly and slipped out. “Hey Juliet, what are you doing here? You didn’t inform me you were coming here.” Daniel said, trying to pull Juliet away from the door. “Where are you taking me to? I came to spend time with you and you are pushing me away?” Juliet lamented. “No dear, I have something to tell you that is why.” Daniel said while pulling Juliet further away from the door.

Juliet was becoming impatient. She had come all this way to spend time with Daniel, and all she could get was an awkward behavior from him. “Daniel wait!!! Where are you taking me to?” Juliet asked again. “Just be quiet and follow me, dear.” Daniel replied.

Daniel took Juliet farther from where Rose could hear them. “I wanted to tell you my mother is inside the house.” Daniel said. “Really!! I want to see her. I want her to meet her future daughter-in-law.” Juliet said while she moved to meet her Daniel’s mother-as she presumed. Daniel held her wrist and pulled her back. “Where do you think you are going to?” Daniel asked. “To meet your mother, of course.” Juliet retorted. “There is something you don’t seem to get. My mother brought a village girl for me to marry. They are inside right now and I am trying all I can to turn them away. Please don’t go and add your own. She would be irked to see you since she doesn’t want me to get married to a city girl. I want to handle things first with her and then introduce you at the right town. Please leave this place as soon as possible before she comes to see you here. I have already kept long outside.” Daniel lied to Juliet, and she consented.

Meanwhile, Rose was inside the house still wondering what had kept Daniel. Who was the visitor outside that Daniel was hiding from her. She decided to go outside and have a look. She paused the movie and wore her slippers. She ambled towards the door and opened it. Before she could step a foot outside, Daniel bumped into her. “Where are you going honey?” Daniel asked. “I was coming to check up on you. Who was at the door?” Rose said as she stretched her neck to see who the visitor was. She only saw someone closing the gate, but didn’t see who it was. When Daniel saw his plan had succeeded, he told more lies. “Oh! It was nobody special. A lady lost her way and was asking for directions. She came to the wrong house, so I directed her to the right place.” Said Daniel.

Rose had no other choice than to believe him. She went back to the hall. “I have to go. It is getting late and I need to check up on Araba. I have to prepare food for her” Rose said as she grabbed her bag from the sofa and headed out.
Daniel was glad everything had gone according to plan. He had prevented the three ladies from interacting with each other. “Okay Rose, I will see Araba tomorrow at the police station.” Daniel said as he went to escort Rose outside.

Daniel quickly ran back into the house. He went straight to the washroom to see Nana Akua. Nana Akua was exhausted. She had waited for close to five hours for her madam to leave. She was late to the market. She quickly got out and went to the market.

Araba was still behind bars. All odds were against her. She had undergone torturing at the police station to admit to the crime.
Rose got to the house to meet her parents. She went to see her father and tried her best to plead on Araba’s behalf. “Dad, can you please reconsider your decision? Please release this poor girl from police custody. After all, you found the money. Please daddy, go and bail her out.” Rose pleaded with her father earnestly for him to have a change of mind.

Her dad was still adamant as he was still hurt. He loved Araba dearly and for him to think Araba stole his money shattered his heart. He refused to speak and remained silent as his daughter pleaded. He looked away from her daughter’s direction.
When Rose realized her dad had given deaf ears to her pleas, she headed to her room. She locked herself up and refused to talk to anybody.

Nana Akua entered the house, but unfortunately met Rose’s mother in the kitchen. “What kept you so long on the market? I have been waiting for you to get the items for dinner. Why are you now coming from the market?” Rose’s mother asked Nana Akua.
Nana Akua was confused as she didn’t know what to say. She quickly thought of an excuse and told Rose’s mother. “Madam, I lost the money you gave me on the way to the market. I searched for it for a very long time and finally came across it just outside the house. So I had to go back to the market again. That explains my lateness madam.” Nana Akua lied while trying her best to hide the envelope she received from Daniel.

Rose’s mother believed Nana Akua. “Is that so? It is good you could find the money. Bring out the things and cook. It is already getting late for supper.” Rose’s mother said as she went to check up on her daughter.

When she got to Rose’s room, she tried to open the door, but it was locked. She knocked, but Rose didn’t answer. “Hey Honey, are you there?” Rose’s mother screamed, but Rose was still silent. After several failed attempts to get Rose’s attention, she informed her husband about the situation. He also came and tried his best, but all to no avail. “Rose dear, please open the door. Why are you doing this to yourself all because of that thief? Do you want to kill yourself for her?” Rose’s father said with anger in his voice.

He couldn’t understand why her daughter would go to such an extent for Araba. He knew there was only one thing Rose wanted, and that was, for him to release Araba from the police custody. He had to do anything to make her only daughter happy if that included releasing Araba from custody. “All right Rose, you win. I will release Araba!” Rose’s father said finally.

Immediately Rose’s father said those words, they heard the key turning. Rose unlocked the door and came out. “Are you sure of what you are saying dad?” Rose asked with anxiety. “Yes, my daughter. I am going to the police station right now. My priority is your happiness, and I will do anything to see those smiles on your face. But there is one thing I want you to be clear about. I will release Araba from custody, but there is no way I will allow her under this roof again. She can crawl back to wherever she came from.” Rose’s father said as he took his car keys, went into his car and drove off.

In twenty minutes, he was at the police station. He signed all the documents needed and Araba was set free. Rose’s father warned her sternly not to return to the house. He sat in his car and left Araba alone.

Araba was standing alone in front of the police station stranded again. She was confused and didn’t know where to go.
