Juggled Glory (The Story of Aba) by Lewis Dampson

 Season 1- Episode (7)

It  was  at  this  point  she  realized  the  tears  in  Aba’s  eyes. She  got  worried  and  asked  Aba  what had  happened  to  her.

“Jeremy  made  me  drink  yesterday  and  slept  with  me.  I woke  up  to  realize  he  was  gone.  I  have tried his  line  severally,  but  it  was  switched  off.”  She  said  with  a  tearful  voice.  “He  took my pride from  me.  He  broke  my virginity.”

Aba  cried  again. Stella  couldn’t  believe  her  ears. She  burst  out  into  a  loud  laughter.  “Is  this  the  reason why you  are looking  like  someone  who  has  lost  both  parents  in  an  accident?”  She  asked  rhetorically. “Look! This  is  the  beginning  of good  things  to  come.  You  should  rather  be  happy  that  your  first  time was  with  a  rich  and  handsome  dude  and  not  with  some  campus  rat. Let  me  tell  you  something, it  is  painful  the  first  time,  but  you  will  enjoy it  later.  It  is  rather  unfortunate  that  your experience  turned  out  to  be  this  way.  Relax  and  wipe  those  tears  off  your  face.  Everything  will be  all  right.”

With  the  comfort  from  Stella,  Aba  wiped  the  tears  off  her  face. Stella  promised  to  introduce  her to  more  guys  who  would  appreciate  her.

Now, Bernard  couldn’t  hold  on  any longer,  Aba’s  saddened  face  kept  replaying  in  his  head.  The dimples  he  cherished  so  much  had  disappeared  from  Aba’s  cheek. Her  radiating  smile  had  also disappeared. He  wanted  to  see  Aba  back  in  her  usual  mood  again. He  decided  to  call  and  check up  on her to see  if  she  had  calmed  down. On second  thought,  Bernard  changed  his  mind  to  visit  her  again  in  her  room.  He  got  up  from the  bench  he  was  sitting  on  and  headed  to  Aba’s  room.

Back  at  Aba’s  room,  Stella  had  been  successful  in  consoling  her. She  was  now happy and  was chatting  freely  with  her  roomies.

Bernard  knocked  on  Aba’s  door  and  Erica  came  to  open  the door  for  him.  She  already knew who  he  was  and  his  purpose. Actually,  they  have  spent  more time  talking  about  him  and  his  advances  towards  their  friend  Aba. “Aba,  you  have  a  visitor.”  Erica  said  as  she  went  back  into  the  room,  leaving  the  door  open. “Who?”  Aba  asked  in  surprise  because  she  wasn’t  expecting  anybody.  “Bernard!”  Erica responded  Aba  with  a  surprised  look. She  was  surprised  Aba  was  asking  who  it  was  since Bernard  had  been  the  only  person  visiting  her  since  they  came  to  the  school.  Erica  had  no  idea that  Aba  had  two  guys  in  her  life.  She  was  kept  in  the  dark  so  as  the  other  roomies  except Stella.

Bernard,  seeing  the  door  had  been  left  ajar  entered  the  room.  Aba  was  already seated  on her bed  typing.  “Oh  God!  Am  really  not in the  mood.”  Aba  thought  silently,  but  dared  not to  voice  it out  to  Bernard’s  hearing. Bernard  came  to  sit  right  beside  Aba  on the  bed.   Aba  was  still  typing,  although  she  had  seen  Bernard  sitting  right  beside  her.  She  was  trying  to do  everything  possible  to  make  Bernard  go  away. She  needed  her  privacy at  that  moment. She had  gone  through  hell  the  previous  day  and  she  really needed  to  be  alone.

Bernard  was  happy to  see  the  glow return  to  Aba’s  face.  That  was  all  he  was  after.  He  realized Aba  was  still  typing  and  assumed that  she  would  wrap  up  to  talk  to  him  soon.  To  lift  the  mood in  the  room,  he  started  chatting  with  the  other  roommates.  Everyone  seemed  busy  and  it  was only  Erica  that  was  responding  to  his  conversation. They  both  talked  about  a  lot of  things within that  short  period. It  was  then  they  both  realized  they  shared  a  lot  of  things  in  common. This made  their  conversation  more  interesting.

In  the  midst  of his  chat  with  Erica,  he  was  hoping  Aba  would  finish  typing  so  they  could  have  a little  chat. But it  seemed  the  typing  would  never  end. Sensing  how  busy  Aba  was  at  that moment,  he  decided  to  excuse  himself  and  come  back  later.   He  tapped  Aba  on  her  shoulders  to  get  her  attention. When  he  was  sure  he  had  gotten  her attention,  he  excused  himself  with  the  promise  of  visiting  later. After  all,  Aba  was  smiling  again and  that  was  his  greatest  concern.

Stella  was  invited  to  a  high  class party outside  campus.  The  party was  supposed  to  hold  a  lot  of dignitaries.  She  was  able  to  convince  Aba  to  accompany  her. Aba  was  promised  heaven  on earth  at  the  party.  They  both  went  out  to  shop  for  attires  for  the  party  later  on in  the  day.

At  10:00pm,  a  limousine  came  to  pick  them  up  to  the  party.  All  the  roomies  joined. They  all wanted  to  have  fun  and  to  get  themselves  acquainted  with  the  big  shots  in  town.

When they  got  to  the  party, it  had  already started.  A  lot  of  girls  were  at  the  party and  most  of them  were  sitting  either  beside  or  on the  laps  of  the  old  men  present.  Stella  quickly  saw  her date. She  held  Aba’s  hand  and  dragged  her  along  to  introduce  her.

“Hello  Alhaji,”  Stella  greeted the  old man  while  hugging  him.  “Hello  Stella. I  am  glad  you  could  make  it.  I  will  spoil  you  tonight with  some  wonderful  treats.” Alhaji  said  while  still  hugging  Stella.

It  was  at  this  moment  that  Alhaji  recognized  Aba.  He  immediately  asked  Stella  whom  her  friend was. Stella  introduced  Aba  to  Alhaji  as  her  roommate.  Alhaji  told  Aba  to  feel  comfortable because there were lots of food and wine and she could eat and drink as much as she can.

Aba  kept  to  herself  through  most  part  of  the  party.  All  her  roommates  were  occupied.  They had  all  hooked  up  with  some  of  the  old men  at  the  party and  were  having  a  nice  time.  Aba moved  away  from  the  music  and  loud  speakers. She  wanted  to  walk  around  the  house.  She loved  the  architectural  view  of  the  house.

She  came  to  the  swimming  pool  and  sat  on the  edge of  the  pool.  She  removed  her  shoes  and  dipped  her  feet  into  the  cold  water  while  sipping  her drink. She  was  enjoying  herself  in  her  little  environment  that  she  didn’t  realize  she  had  company. Someone  had  sat  beside  her  and  was  staring  at  her.  He  was  very surprised  that  the  young  lady hadn’t  recognized  his  presence  in  the  past  five  minutes.

He  touched  her  to  announce  his presence. Aba  was  startled  and  fell  into  the  swimming  pool.  Unfortunately,  she  fell  into  the  deepest  depth in  the  pool  and  didn’t  know how to  swim  too. Aba  was  struggling  to  get  her  feet on  the  floor tiles  of  the  pool  but  to  no  avail. She  plunged  into  the  water  immediately. She  wanted  to  scream for  help,  but  her  lungs were  immediately  filled with  water.  She  was  choking,  shrieking  and struggling.  Aba  was  dying.

Will  it  be  Aba’s  last  day on  earth? Will  she  survive  this  tragedy?

Watch  out  for  the  next  episode.
